Peter Sommer Travels

From boarding the gulet to the blessing of dolphins on the last day, this tour in Turkey was the best vacation of my life: quality learning, rest and relaxation, superb food, exercise, good company and fresh air. Walking in the footsteps of our ancestors was awesome. Nothing else can compare. In 1994, Peter Sommer walked 2,000 miles across Turkey, retracing the route of Alexander the Great, and in the process fell in love with the country, its ancient civilizations, and the Turkish people.

A British archaeologist, filmmaker, and tour guide, Peter created Peter Sommer Travels in 1996, offering unique escorted tours and gulet cruising holidays. Tom Brosnahan, originator of the Lonely Planet and Frommer's travel guides to Turkey, and creator of Peter personally leads a number of our archaeology tours.
